Would a Quarter Pound Pair with a WLH set?

Hi all,

I used to be on this forum all the time as a teenager. Funny being back. I'm sure you all are as knowledgeable as ever.

I have a Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette with a H/S/H pickup configuration. Currently it has a a WLH set and a Antiquity Texas Hot in the middle. The neck humbucker sounds a little muddy when played through my combo amp (seem more designed for a 4x12) and the Antiquity sounds a little too bright/harsh with the 500k pots I have in the guitar now.

I'm going to swap the neck and middle pickups-- I'm specifically thinking of putting a Quarter Pound in the middle. Seems like a good choice for some nice crunch. But does anyone know if it sounds good with 500k pots? Will it balance well with the WLH in the bridge? If not, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks all!

I have a Quarter Pound in the middle and yes, it does provide nice crunch with 500k pots. It's a little cooler than my A5 59/Jazz hybrid in the neck and my Custom 8 in the bridge. So yes, I think you could get it to balance with your WLH in the bridge maybe by setting it lower if you had to.

No worries there- the Quarter Pound sounds great (some say better) with 500k pots. I'd go for it. I bet it would be a great combo.
