Would it be possible...

Re: Would it be possible...

You will certainly destroy the tone of this p-u !!!
You'd better put a different p-u if you don't like it .
It would loose some high end and the fast response that make a perfect shredder p-u .

Well maybe its not for me! I'm not a shredder, but I'm thinking about a slightly hotter '59.

Re: Would it be possible...

I don't see why you couldn't if you can swap them out for screws. It would be a tight fit, but if you're careful...

Of course, I've never tried anything like that, so I may be totally wrong.

Re: Would it be possible...

An easy mod is replace the allen screws for regular slotted ones , it does already make a change , the p-u will sound more like a hot paf .

No, The diameter of the hex poles is larger than that of the slugs. You could possibly drill out the bottom half of the hole for the slug to fit in to but, you will have a gap at the top of the coil between the slug and the coil. Also, to do this kind of mod, you better be really handy at using a drill press and also have the right tooling to line up the exact center of the hole with the drill bit! Not a project for the novice!

They could be easily replaced with the standard flathead poles though! Just unscrew the hex and screw in the new slot screws. I belive the are 5-40 filister head screws!
