Would it be weird if I used these two pickups?

Hello, I'm new here, and new to getting pickups for my guitar cause I'm dumb and didn't think it was that important. But I want to upgrade my first guitar. It's a Schecter Blackhawk Diamond Series that i picked up at a pawn show. I read online that apparently it was a Guitar Center limited edition, and only 200 were sold? I could be wrong and would like if someone could tell me more on that. I have been doing a lot of research lately and I narrowed it down to two pickups. I haven't seen anyone else do this combination so I was wondering why. But the combination would be a JB SH-4 and an Invader Neck. They don't match so that would be a little annoying, but I really like the Invader Neck's warm tone it has. It's perfect for the slow songs my band does. And I'm not so fond of the Invader Bridge... It's just a bit much for my style

I am the lead guitarist in a pop-punk band. Kind of like Blink, (old) We the Kings, Sum 41, you know the usual. We don't play "hardcore" pop-punk like Neck Deep. I like the warm tone for the slower stuff that we do and by listening to demos with the Invader Neck blows my mind. My lead style is more of a "modern" classic rock (if that's even a thing).

I guess I was wondering if it would be weird if i used these two (other than the fact that they look different), or if there was another neck pickup like the Invader that sounds like it.

Thanks,
Danny

As far as I am concerned, there is nothing weird about the pickup combinations you choose. You get what sounds good to you.

If the Invader(n) gives you the sound that you want, then that's the pup you should use. You haven't said much about whether you like or have had some experience with the JB(b). If that's the pup that gives you the tone and response you want in that guitar, then go for it.

And rest assured that if those two pups give you what you want...then it is the perfect combination for you (not weird at all).

A lot of guitarists use pickups that don't match on their guitars, and no one makes too much of a fuss about it I think...

As long as you like how they sound when they're installed on your guitar, then you're all set; what you get on those middle positions is an adventure (and if you don't like the middle position, you'll still have your fave nick and bridge).

I think you can make it work. You might have to play with the pickup height to get them to balance well, but, sure, why not. Great music starts with breaking the rules, so go for it.

I think you could probably find a set that is matched better, but if you like the sound, why not?
