Would the bias of an amp move during overseas shipping?

Im just talking about my komet, and eventually when i get round to it ill get a voltmeter and twiddle the bias pot and figure out what sounds best, but just out of curiosity do you guys thing that bias in an amp would shift or get altered somehow during shipping?

It's possible that it could get shook out of place. Try it when you get it and if it sounds wierd, then get it checked.

although like he says, it's possible, it's extremely doubtful. Bear in mind though that if you set up an amp at 115VAC , and I get it and my wall voltage is running 125VAC then the bias will reflect that change. Local wall voltages do vary from place to place within the US, and something tells me it's not just us.

For my day gig, we get tube amps from all over the world, and each manufacturer recommeneds we check the bias once they reach our doors, as the temperature difference brought on by the altitude change (when it's on the plane, that is) can change the bias of the amp, although the odds are against it.

I would have the bias checked and adjusted...just because of voltage diffs all over the world. If the bias was adjusted with one wall voltage in one country and then shipped to another country with higher voltage, then the bias will be set to high and would be need to be lowered a little. Lew

Is the bias pot on the back of the chassis the main one, or is it a fine tuner?
Did you check to see if there's a minipot inside near the power tubes? One selling point of that amp was the bias fine tuner on the top of the back of the chassis. So, I'd just plug it in, turn it up to operating volume, a click through a few of those bias points (using standby when you click it). Your ears should tell you where the amp sounds it's best. I'd love to have that amp. It's like an open slate for tube tone. That fine tuner lets you get the tubes operating right where they sound best.
