Would this combination be good (tele)?

I'm thinking about combining a hot-rail bridge with a vintage '54 neck. Is there anything I should consider before doing this? My goal is extreme versatility. I like to play bluesy, jangly stuff and metal; I figure I'd use the rail for the metal stuff.

Would I have to make any wiring/electrical changes to the guitar? It's all stock.

I'd go with a '59 in the bridge. But, of course, it's your axe. I've also always thought the 5-way/strat switch with a HS-wired tele was a sweet concept (IE: P1=neck, P2=neck+bridge.inner, P3=bridge.inner, P4=bridge, P5=bridge.outer) but I'm probably the only one who thinks that, so... yeah.
To answer your question, you wouldn't have to make any wiring changes if you kept all the electronics the same.
