Would ya trade?

A Mesa Single Rectifier for an EVH 5150 III 50w?

Not a question of dollar value comparison, but of quality of tone.

Re: Would ya trade?

Personally, I'd keep the Recto. Both the Recto and the EVH are great amps, but I think overall, the Recto wins.

Re: Would ya trade?

I've found that although the Mesa has a great full bodied base tone, I am forever tweaking the dials for the years I've owned it.
As a result, I've gravitated more towards amps of mine that offer instant plug in satisfaction.
I also have grown to prefer the Marshall type gain and response.

dual recto yes Id want the dual

single recto is partial solid state, so no I would not want the single

Re: Would ya trade?

With the amp collection that you have, you KNOW what you like. If all your after is a new flavor, go for it. I probably would.

Re: Would ya trade?

I wasn't aware that the single recto had any solid state outside of the power supply. Could you elaborate further?
solid state rectifier

That's located in the power supply, and most guitar amps made after the early to mid 1960s (with a few exceptions) are solid state rectified. I only like a tube rectifier for playing clean or nearly clean, so the SS rectifier isn't an issue for me at all.

Well, just because it's solid state, it's not a tr00 valve amp, so therefore it automatically sucks :smash:
