I got a malmsteen strat and replaced the electronics with the Eric Clapton strat Lace Sensors and mid boost...

Why? the Dimarzio's are better for high volume where the volume adds sustain... At the levels I play I the Clapton electronics were a better choice

I had a Wolfgang and yanked those godawful pickup out right away. Replaced 'em with the Air Norton/Air Zone combo and the guitar came to life.

I like the green Richie Kotzen Teles and if I'll ever get one I would probably change the railed Dimarzio bridge pickup before I even leave the store. Same goes for Wolfgangs or the Neal Schone Les Paul.

Sadly/Lucky enough, I don't have the money for any of the models mentioned above.

I ended up gettin' a Zakk Wylde Bullseye, but I'm not a big fan of the EMG 81/85 set. I like an Alnico II full blown sweet PAF sound. Huge!!! The EMG's have always sounded sterile to me. I want to keep the look of the guitar stock, so should I try some other types of EMG's? I've not had any experience with anything but the 81/85's if that helps.

60A's in both positions! Think, PAF like in tone but, with 2 tons of output. Dont mess with another EMG IMO.

The 81/85 sucks IMO. I hate em too but, love the 60A's!

If the EMG's aren't doing it, yank them and put the pickups you want in it, it's just a guitar. If you want to keep the EMG look, they make plastic covers that look a heck of a lot like EMG's

A local guy bought a ZW and had it refinished because he could not stand the bullseye graphic. I don't know the guy personally, but I saw the guitar when it was finished and waiting to be picked up.

I was told he loved the guitar, but just hated the look.

Make the guitar how you want it to play and love life.

what a effin idiot. why would you spend that kind of money on a guitar when he could have just found the same exact specs on another les paul and do the same thing. prolly would have been cheaper. i dunno thats just me.

Yes, it's a completely reversible mod, no bigger deal than changing the strings

Not a fan of the EMGs I've tried, so I would swap them and the harness for a traditional set-up, and reinstall the originals if you go to sell it.
