Would you make this trade???

Re: Would you make this trade???

I like the PRS way better as far as looks, feel, and tone go. I'd keep the PRS.

Re: Would you make this trade???

Man, that is one tough decision.

Sounds like the Heritage option might be the best way to go. I'm not sure you'll be happy in the end with either/or. Only with both :D

Re: Would you make this trade???

If you're considering that, then would you consider trading that PRS for my Squier Strat signed by Tim Mahoney?

Re: Would you make this trade???

No way Scott, DON'T DO IT!!!!

PRS doesn't make those brazilian rosewood ones everyday and that swimming pool look is KILLER. That Gibson I'm sure is fine, but your PRS is superior. Besides, don't you like humbuckers better? I remember you used to have a really sweet PRS Soapbar that you sold.

Re: Would you make this trade???

Well...I've never gotten up the nerve to play a PRS so I'm only going by reputation & looks. IF I was to buy a PRS, the McCarty would be my choice....the one you have is absolutely beautiful & you don't find those everyday.

The Gibby is a beauty too....I love that color on them...but it is, after all, a re-issue. I'm not up on the current prices but I'm guessing the PRS is worth more both upfront & the resale value. If it was an original, I'd make the trade, but not for a reissue.

If it's soapbars you want, I've got a lovely Dillion Goldtop with Duncan Custom-3 P90s that I guess I could let go for the PRS...............................

Throw some Phat Cats in the PRS, play it for a while until you realize you preferred it with the buckers. Then you can give the Phat Cats to me for sharing this sage advise!!!! :laugh2:

Re: Would you make this trade???

Have you played the LP?? I mean, they're both gorgeous guitars.... but to give up something as nice as that PRS (something you might not be able to get your hands on again, i mean, they didn't make too many BLEs did they??), i would DEFINITELY have to sit down and spend some quality time AB'ing the guitars. Of course its not an apples to apples comparison, but i think whichever one speaks to you more is more important than how it looks or what pickups it has. Either one would sound killer.

Re: Would you make this trade???

I love both PRS and Gibson, so I don't have any bias company-wise, but I've gotta say "NO" to the trade.

I think P-90's just don't look right at all on a LP. But that's just me I guess.

That Reed is gorgeous, and prolly is a bit more versatile,sound-wise, and it's a quality instrument as well. As much as I like Gibson, and especially Les Paul, I feel they are over-priced.

For many years my main Hobby has been archery. Both modern and traditional. I'm amazed at what poor quality wood (aesthetically) Gibson uses on their $2K guitars. I've had some custom longbows that took over a year to receive and the quilted maples, etc would put all but the 4K plus Les Pauls to shame.Of course there is usually not as much volume of wood overall, however the amount of hand craftsmanship & detail work is there, and the top on a Paul is not THAT thick. I've had Tiger/Birdseye Maple big Recurve risers that did have more wood than a Les Paul top.

Here are some examples of craftsmanship/woods:

Re: Would you make this trade???

Oh, Scott. That '56 looks soooo nice. I would have to say YES.

After all, I sold my tricked out CU22 to purchase an R9. I've never looked back.

I'm also betting Heritage could make me one that looks that good for about 1/2 the price. Very tempting though.

I'd say so.

If it were me, I'd keep the PRS... just because the top is amazing if nothing else. Could always toss some custom-would Phat Cats in there :32:

Re: Would you make this trade???

In a heartbeat I make that trade but I am a big LP fan and I love the '56 RI's, especially with a nice top like that.

Re: Would you make this trade???

NO I would not.

I dislike PRS but that trade would not be good

Re: Would you make this trade???

Oh well, a bunch of help you guitarcrackheads are... ;)

I'm not going to do it. The PRS *has* a custom wound set of Phat Cats in it. ;)

I played it a long long time last night. It's a great guitar. And yet, no matter how often I go out to my music room to play, I invariably end up with my R8 in my hand for the majority of the time. Funny how that works.

It was a bit of a stretch on the deal for the most part. Thanks for the input!

Re: Would you make this trade???

SO.............does that mean you're keeping the Phat Cats & I'll have to buy my own.

Last time I give advice!!!!! :13: :burnout:

Re: Would you make this trade???

Don't do that Scott !

LPs are great axes but really over rated .

PRS rules , I have a similar Mc Rosie (#26/500) and it's the best axe ever.

Those are keepers , bro !

If you had a harem I bet you'd still have a favorite! ;)

Re: Would you make this trade???

Too late, but I would in a heartbeat!

That's what I'm talking about! It would have SD pups already too I'm sure.

Re: Would you make this trade???

Man that's a tough call, I can only say if the PRS isn't floating your boat then really you've got nothing to lose. I've had some truly sweet looking guitars in the past that just didn't do it for me in the tone/playability department (not saying the guitars were a problem they just weren't a fit for my amps and playing style). So I say, if your even interested in the deal then there's something about the PRS your not liking or not getting from it - if that's the case, do the deal.

Re: Would you make this trade???

i dont know, both are extremely pricey guitars, lew has a heritage paul i think, perhaps he can comment. I've tried the most expensive from each company and was not particularly impressed with either, probably because im used to the strat feel.

I'd go with the Paul because it's more retro than the PRS.

I've always seen PRS's as the collector's guitar, if you know what i mean. Pauls have more mojo in my opinion.
