Wow, Ark Amps look and sound delicious!

Re: Wow, Ark Amps look and sound delicious!

I like the look of the amps . . . seems like the kind of thing you could talk your wife into letting into the living room. "But honey, it's like a sculpture . . . like art!"

You would be surprised how often we hear just THAT!!!!!!!

Re: Wow, Ark Amps look and sound delicious!

Yeah, well for trade shows we like to go all out for shock value, it DOES get people into the room to see what's up with 'em.

And some folks really dig the really wild stuff believe it or not;)

I dunno about that.

At the NY amp show, I was there with a friend who's a heavy jazz cat... and we poked our heads into your room... What are those??!

"Furniture amps"

And walked right on past...

There's something to be said for 'rectangle' boxes... like ease of transport & not having to get some wild flight case custom built. I also hate thinking that half of what I just paid for is the woodworking rather then the circuit...

I know I'm not alone on that!

Nice to see 'ya posting here though! Welcome!!!

I totally understand your point and that is why we still offer more "normal looking" cabs for those who want our sound in a more traditional enclosure, some people really DO dig the wilder stuff, believe me I do hear about it!

I never said rectangle boxes were bad, just not very unique, and so we started thinking "outside the box" but for the less artsy crowd we offer the Aviator series which I myself designed;)

I cannot respect any amp company which produces such ostentatious and impractical woodwork as this monstrosity:
Model_C_with_Matching_1x12_Ported_Cabinet_300.jpg

That one is just too "Pablo Picasso" for my tastes. Now, if they'd only do something in Van Gohg I'd seriously consider it. Of course, the tone would probably be an impressionist thing. Definitely some sweet woodwork, though!

yeah, not my look, but I'm glad someone has the cojones to make something that looks like that.

Arty or not, I love the gain tone on the A Series amp from that YouTube video. Raw and gutsy.

x2, It gets in the neighborhood of a Trainwreck tone, that was the first thing I thought of ---

I really like the gain structure in that amp

You just made my day;)

A vid of the Aviator (same circuit as the Model A)will be up in a few weeks by Trace Adkins guitarist Brian Wooten, really looking forward to THAT!

Clips of the Model B,C and D are coming finally too in the New Year;)

To my ears, and I have played it for the last 3 years now; it sound like a cross between an old Plexi-an HRM Dumble and a Franchesca Trainwreck with some Vox top end chime in there. VERY unique and touch sensitive and organic tone with a very gradual gain structure that is a real treat to work with the guitars volume, no big jump from clean to mean but lot's of cool in between shades which are some of my fav.

Thanks for the pat on the back, I need it;)

I want to plug my SG Classic into it and see how it responds to P-90s. I'll bet that would be a monster sound!

OK, wait a sec here. Am I supposed to take a right at the Sunoco or the Sno-Kone? Your voice mail wasn't 100% clear.
