wow neil zaza is now using duncans!

Re: wow neil zaza is now using duncans!

Wow, Neil is a truly amazing guitar player. I have just recently been exposed to his music and I'm already a big fan. That guitar certainly does look and sound pretty sweet. I haven't seen them in any music stores around here yet though. Anyone know who's going to carry them? any online dealers?

Hey Everyone,

Neil Zaza here.

First of all, I gotta say it: I love the Duncans in my guitar!

When we were designing my signature axe, the Cort NZS-1, I decided that I was going to analyze every aspect of my tone and leave no stone unturned regardless of any company relationships I had had in the past. It was all about the tone and how the various components of the axe made playing toneful and inspiring.

We started right at the very source of the electronic tone- the pickups. Trust me when I say that we tried every pickup within our reach and the winners were absolute standouts. My guitar would not sound as good without Seymour Duncan pick ups in them. The tone they provide is rich and full while at the same time very defined and articulate.

I am very proud to now be part of the Duncan family. Seymour is a true legend and artist without peer.

It's all about the tone.

Neil

Inspiring Neil! I love your playing and have a few of your CDs.

Did you guys try any of the boutique pickups on the market...Rio Grandes....etc? It would be nice to know you
tried the expensive guys but ended up with Duncans! Good stuff.

RIO's "BOUTIQUE" pups???? :laugh2:

sorry bro but i never thought of them as boutique at all :beerchug:

Re: wow neil zaza is now using duncans!

Wicked..HAHA! I nkow what you mean...I guess I was more wondering if he tried any of the smaller companies for comparison. Curious. :burnout:

What is the build of the guitar? mahogany? Maple top? Trying to see if it compares to my Mccarty in which case I may try the CC! :burnout:

basswood body, set neck shape is like a schecter, very beautiful but would not get the cort, had one and it was only but trouble never in tune even with sperzel locking tunners.
and the cc leaves nothing to be desired in the bassy regions of his guitar
.in the makin of the guitar video when he puts the 59 neck on he says"sounds a little thin".
exactly why i ended up selling mine.

Re: wow neil zaza is now using duncans!

neil could play a broom stick with cheap strings and make it talk!
love the guys feel ,tone and playing :)

Re: wow neil zaza is now using duncans!

Sorry to be a black sheep in this congratulation thread BUT i watched the clip from malaysia and didn't like it :
the piece of music didn't talk to me
the sound was buried in to much spacial effect
the tone of the guitar : all mids , not much treebles and no bass
not a good tone to me . :jester:

Here's another video that shows Neil at the Cort factory working with Chris Cho on the design of the guitar. It's pretty cool. You get see Neil's first exposure to the SH-11 Custom Custom, which he ended up using on the NZS-1 (shown below).

Click here to read a great interview with Neil, by Lisa Sharken, in which he talks about the development of the NZS-1.

Enjoy!

IN the video where he plays at the end...is that the CC in the axe?

Neil, you always had a great tone and i love your playing!
but i must admit i was a bit shocked to see you switched over to duncans?
the reason i say this is because i know you absolutely loved the EBMM EVH sig guitar in stock form(dimarzio EVH custom wounds)
anyway glad to see you chose duncans for your new cort sig guitar and i wish you the best of luck in all you do :)
BTW, i just started using duncans myself(JB/JAZZ) set and cant express how happy i am with them!

Confused bro....you just started using Duncans (JB\Jazz) but your signature has guitars loaded with Duncans.

Re: wow neil zaza is now using duncans!

So, I notice Neil said he likes the Custom Custom in his model but said the 59 sounded a bit thin in the neck. I am surprised he kept it in the neck slot. I don't think it sounds thin in a Les paul though.

What is a good alternative to the 59 in a PRS if the 59 is thin. Alnico II?
