It's all one side of the same rubix cube! he always sounds the same, always the same structure, always the 'same'. John 5 does country. REALLY country style, not that lame ass chickin pickin shortcutted style Zakk Wylde does.

Johnny A really can do so many styles, it's incredible. I would love to see Zakk Wylde trying to do what Johnny A does. Vice versa it's not that hard. lost of power chords and pentatonic riffing.

Tommy Emanuel does a lot of styles too; acoustic, rock, even harder rocky stuff too, but he can do it without resorting to shortcuts.

Andy Timmons, John Petrucci, Chris Broderick... those guys are GOOD. no, awesome. Chris Broderick is the reason I sometimes think of putting my guitar down. he is just awesome.

Zakk is boring. But boring in a good way. Water is boring; it loses it's appeal after a sip or two. Beer is boring cause it's always the same without a pallet or terroir. But it's fun to drink beer so I keep drinking it after a sip or 2, or a glass or 5.... Zakk is in this comparison beer.

Zakk is famous and I'm not so obviously he sucks.
He can play better than me so he sucks even more.
He had the balls to give up everything and start music career and he lives in the right counry for that and I dont so I even hate him more.

I admit that I suck too so consequently everyone who agrees with me sucks too. I hate you in that group, too, for all that.
Everyone who are outside of these two groups and has any opinion about anything - sucks too!!! I hate you even more than the first two groups!!!
Everyone who donesn't even have opinions sucks big time - you are the worst of all go to hell!!!!!!!!

So when everyone sucks and everyone hates each other we start to realise that it would be time to create some RnR positive attitude brotherhood and if we do so, even a small part of our mind will be like that friendly wild northern grizzly bear drinking beer telling stories and play the crap out of our geetars - and that is cool :)

Joke apart my only negative note is that his tone is not really for my taste. I respect everything else around him. Ozzy's No More Tears album is one of my favs to date.

I could even forgive him a Tele I guess. No probs with that axe, amazing guitar. It would just look goofy for him.

In his book, he admits he is too lazy to shower. A DJ at my local radio station called him a smelly dude on the air when talking about meeting him at a local show the day before. Not showering and knowing you stink is ridiculously rude. A couple years back when I was playing open mics more often, there was this vocalist putz who stank so bad you could smell him from a few feet away, and when he got any closer I had to fight a gag reflex. He was actually in a band - I couldn't understand how they didn't get sick to their stomachs just being around him.

BTW, the Zakk book is a piece of sh*t. Most of it is Zakk and the coauthor describing viking glory in a campy way that is just unwanted and annoying, or Zakk and the coauthor trading imaginary barbs that is so fake and so tasteless childish that it's not funny. Zakk pokes fun of himself in brutal ways that are weird and fake, including some joking "praise" about his wife that is just uncomfortable to read and will make you feel sorry that she is married to this idiot. Very inane and there is little "documentary/biography" content. He really screwed the fans on this one - false advertising in the extreme. wanted to sue for the time and brain cells I lost reading it.

It's not the vulgarity of it - the Slash and Ozzy biographies are vulgar but that's because they're describing vulgar situations in their lives. The Zakk one is just using vulgarity to try and be cool or funny. Ugh

I'll skip a day of showering or two if I'm pretty inactive (so still kind of clean) and I am home mostly by myself, but if I'm going ANYWHERE, no matter how insignificant, I virtually shower twice and I am uber-clean. I could never do what Zakk does.

Zooming in on some git's fingerboard is not something i have any interest in doing. Music is for the ears. I've heard this person play and my ears didn't like it, they prefer music.

While I'm not really a fan of his music, I learned what a pentatonic scale was by reading Zakk's articles in Guitar One magazine a zillion years ago. Always going to have a bit of a soft spot in my heart towards him for that . . .

Exactly. It's a gimmick and it works. It sells records, tickets and a **** ton of merch. Good for him! I don't get how people don't realize that damn-near every guitarist (or even musician, for that matter) has a persona. Is his over the top? Yeah, but you need to portray a "larger than life" image or else you're just another dip**** in the crowd. Image is a BIG part of music, whether you realize it/want to believe it or not.
And my wife bought me his book last year - it's a bit repetitive with the insults, constant cursing, etc. but it's pretty damn funny. It's a business of entertainment! Too many people take this **** way too seriously.

I'm using the word virtually with the meaning of "nearly" or "almost", nothing to do with technology. I don't think there is even an app for maintaining personal hygiene. :D
