Wrist pains

Hey guys, A few weeks ago i started actually practising properly for about 5-10 hours a day, but about the past week ive been getting pains in my wrist..The pain first comes up after streching it, and at night its quiet irritating, like now..The pain seems to be all around my wrist but i think thats more phycological as it seem to be only present about 1 inch below the line of my thumb on the inside of my arm (if wrist is lying palm down on a desk)..i get the feeling that i want to "crack" it but the pain isnt coming from a place that can be "cracked" (or is it?) so help or advice would really help.. thats all i can think of decribing at the moment.. Really appreciate any comments..

Thanks.

Re: Wrist pains

Yeh it does actually seem that im pushing myself too hard, I just got an interesting book sheets of sound by jack zucker today,so mabye ill brush up on a little theory and relaxed playing for a few days and build speed up more gradually than before....

Thanks Rid

Re: Wrist pains

Take it easy and dont push it too hard, or you may end up injuring yourself and not be able to play at all.

Re: Wrist pains

Right, i took a break playing guitar yesterday and played a good 5 hours today, I didnt try push my hand too hard at all and tried to build up speed a lot slower this time an, No pain whatsoever..:Laugh2: in fact it hurt much less than it did this morning..I always though that it was said to be relaxed while practising just meant that it would be less tedious but after today i discoverd that ypu should be relaxed to 1..Prevet injury and 2..Improve technique..I found that i actually can play what i was practising today better than if i had have pushed myself too hard and my fingers feel much more loose than They ever had..

So let this be a lesson to you to be shredders..:laugh2:

Re: Wrist pains

i know practicing 5-10 hours a day is rewarding, i used to do it, but after a while it takes it's toll on you. I stopped doing that, now i only practice 2 1/2- 3 hours a day, but i feel a lot better doing it :)
