wrong effects orders questions

What are some wrong effects orders please?

When putting effects in different orders can it cause:

1.) overloading problems?
2.) impedance problems?
3.) DB level input and output matching problem?
4.) phase output or input problems?
5.) some pedals have inputs or output buffers other don't
when putting them in different order what kind of problems can
this cause please?
6.) Why does putting a dirty distorted input causes a wah or phaser to react different than a clean guitar signal

Re: wrong effects orders questions

Wahs and phasers magnify specific frequencies at different times (depending on the cycle or where the rocker pedal is). Distortion dramatically changes the shape of the frequency curve. Therefore, some frequencies will be blasted out of proportion, while some are left with a less noticeable change. It is actually safe to switch the order of phasers, wahs, and distortions, but you just have to watch the volume to protect your speakers and ears. But if you find that some frequencies are way out of proportion to others, it would be wise to adjust some parameters. Impedence is not an issue with line/instrument-level connections; also remember, although speaker cables and instrument cables use 1/4" plugs, they are not interchangeable.

Re: wrong effects orders questions

There's really no "wrong" order. There are orders that work best for certain situations. Electrically, you're not harming your wah by having it in front or behind your distortion. You just have to try things to see how they work for you.

Out of the 4 pedals I occasionally use, as long as I have the tuner next to the input- it doesn't make a bit of difference, although I put the delay first since I'll remove it from the chain after the few songs I use it with.
