WTB: 7 string pups

El Dunco

Sock Supplier to RHCP
My Christmas present was very nice except the Duncan Designed pickups are duds. I am looking for a humbucker that can be split and will work well clean and with alot of gain (Like a CC or JB Jazz). AND a single for the neck (Like a hot rail).

Remember I am a kid that cannot afford much and they must be 7 string compatible.

I appreciate your help,

Duncan

Re: WTB: 7 string pups

a little off-topic:
there is no demon-7 and i'd seriously stay away from the invader in anything but the brightest guitars, especially the 7-string version.
And since you have SC in the neck you basicly just have a single option for the neck: Dimarzio Blaze Single.
For the bridge you should consider something brighter overall since your axe is all mahogany: Dsitortion-7, JB-7 would be my guesses Dimarzios tend to have an overall darker sound than duncans and might not work great in an axe like the 007, but a blaze or Evo-7 might work.
And since you seem to be playing death metal with this you should imo consider changign your amp. that crate won't deliver the tightness and articulation you'll need , at least that's what i found out when i tryed one out.

In the end remember that 7-.string players are a rare breed on this forum so don't expect many offers, like you could with sixers.

Actually the crate works suprisingly well, we aren't really Death Metal (I'll change that in a mo') We were death metal to start out with then decided we would a be a modern "groove metal" (plenty of solos) I'm perfectly happy with the crate. The DD pickups are really bad, I can see the winding just by looking at it (doesn't look very good :() When I first played it I thought there was a grounding problem.

I appreciate your adive though.

In that guitar, I'd try a Duncan Custom 7, unless you're looking for a *really* bright tone - then probably a Distortion, although I can't stand them myself. Unfortunately, eBay is probably your best bet unless you want to buy new. You can also sign up at http://www.sevenstring.org, where you might have more luck...
