Looking to pick up an intel mac mini from someone that might be ready to upgrade to a macbook or an imac. No, I'm not offering a trade, just a suggestion. If you're ready to unload your Mac Mini, fire me off a PM with your price.

Intel CPU only. thanks.:cool2:

Re: WTB: Apple Mac Mini (Intel only)

shoot me a price and let me know how much ram and how large the HD is...

Re: WTB: Apple Mac Mini (Intel only)

powermax is too high. I can get a new one for 575 free shipping no tax and a year warranty.

Re: WTB: Apple Mac Mini (Intel only)

Good luck getting someone to come off their Mac. It's a cultish kinda thing Scott!

Re: WTB: Apple Mac Mini (Intel only)

Yeah, the mac mini refurbs go fast. mostly it's either the high end ones or it's a previous generation that I"m not interested in. I'll keep patience in order, something will come along.

I've got the iMac and will soon be buying my son a macbook for college. VK's got a nice older generation one for a great price, but for this application, the mini is the way to go. For my son's eventual college laptop, I want it to be the latest and greatest to hopefully last him 4 years. Like they say, 18 month moore's law. But, he'll just have to squeeze 4 years out of it regardless.

Moore's law applies to transistors, but Mac's tend to outlive the common PC ;).

That said, I'd strongly suggest getting him the base model MacBook Pro if at all possible - everything is better about it, and the design of the case alone (aluminum vs plastic) would be enough to get me to pay the extra dough. I'll be upgrading to one right before I go off to university, as well.

OFF TOPIC: Scott, did he get a football scholarship? What school ? :beerchug:

In my opinion, it's not worth the $$$ to buy a laptop that's expected to keep up for four years. You can add some life with a RAM and hard drive upgrade (much cheaper a year or so after you buy the machine) but in my experience it's cheaper to buy two machines (one today and another 2 down the road) than to get one that will not be a slug four years from now.

Big schools told him he was too short. 6'0"-6'1". 3 Ivy leagues wanted him, but no athletic scholarships and too far away, so he passed. He had two Division 2 offers but didn't like the educational opportunities. D-2 normally only offers partial football scholies.

He chose to accept an Academic scholie from Trinity Univ in San Antonio where he plans to play Division 3 football. He was their number one lineman recruit and the coaches there are tickled to death that he's coming there. This team normally only loses 1 or 2 games in a season and is normally in the D-3 playoffs each year.

I'm really proud of him. Trinity is one of the top 3 educations west of the Mississippi (rice and stanford being the other two). It's a very elite education and very difficult to get admitted into.

AWESOME Scott....good for him & congrats to you & your wife :bigthumb:

Hey, San Antonio has some darn fine food; makes for a nice road trip to go hit the Riverwalk :D

Re: WTB: Apple Mac Mini (Intel only)

I'm ready. and, I'm glad he'll be close to home. 2.75 hours away tops, with traffic. He's literally my best friend and I'm going to miss him terribly when he leaves in August. But with football, I'll see him at least 11 weekends each Fall. :)

Scott,
That's great news to hear about your son, and I wish him and your family the best. But back to the laptop, why not AMD? I thought they were made in Texas. And I happen to be anti-Intel since the layoff and that they decided to build two factories in China.
