WTB - Blackback Duncan 59 neck

Hi!
I bought one of these from a guy here in the forum some years ago.
It were so nice in my SG. No boomy bass on the neck position, very sweet, bright and spark, absolutely no mood.
Unfortunately that pickup was gone with the SG when I sold it.

In these days I have a 05' LP Std with Burstbuckers PRO (changed the neck for A3 and bridge for A2) but after half a year, the bb's still annoying me with that boomy, mud bass, specially the burstbucker neck. Changed all the pots to CTS, 50's wiring, etc. My volume pots are even 550k and the BB still sound crap.

The Blackback Duncan 59 I used to have years ago had a sticker in it's bottom saying 59NJ.
If someone have one of them and want to sold it, please contact me.

Thanks

Re: WTB - Blackback Duncan 59 neck

Hi I have a Blackback, but it is not a 59. The blackbacks that I know of were made for Ed Roman by Duncan and they are a supposedly big secret. I think it is actually a Custom Custom.

Did you try lowering the pickup (LOL! if you've already done all that, I'm pretty sure you tried lowering the neck pickup).

Yep, I think you need a 59n. I have one in my SL2H and the BB Pro in the LP. the 59n is clearer (probabaly wound a lot less than the BB).

I like both myself.

tsmilliner,
Hmm, that one I used to have was for sure a 59 neck version wound by duncan's wife.
I'm with you when you say they are diferent animals from the standard seymour duncan line. Thanks for replaying.

DonP,
Did you installed the 59n in your LP?
I'm asking it because I had an epi les paul years ago (before the SG) and had 2 duncans installed on it. A pearly gates plus in the bridge and a 59 neck, obviously :) in the neck.
If I remember, it sounded so crap in that time as the BB PRO neck today in my Gibson LP.
The same annoying deep mud boomy bass.
Yes I tried everything. Lowering, Rising, adjusting screw poles higher, lower, etc.
You said the the 59n is clearer and probably has less wound compared to BB pro, but in the readings they both read about 8k with neck versions read 7,Xk.
Maybe Gibson is using some magic with these pickups. My SG has a Duncan Custom with alnico8 in the bridge (14k output, strong magnet). When the LP arrived (BB PRO AlnicoV), at the first chord it sounded so much powerful, punchy and hot than Custom Custom. Very strange considering the BB is an A5 8k PAF pickup and the A8 Custom with 14k, way too far from being a PAF.

I'm confused, don't know what I want.
