Wasn't a JB/59 set stock in those? If so, you probably already have a slight overwound JB in there, assuming it is stock. The one I pulled out of my old Diablo was wound pretty hot, 17 - 18K IIRC. You could always put a ceramic magnet in it and see what happens.

It still has 59 in the neck. But the bridge is a Suhr.
