That is about the ONLY way he is going to get them! I have never seen them either.

Re: WTB: Seth Lover set - 4 conductor

I'm a little surprised; but no problem. I figure there's no harm asking.

Seems like if you're going to spend the $ on a set of pups, adding a few $ to get 4 conductor would be the way to go just for versatility or potential versatility. I can see the average joe buying whatever is standard; but I was hoping the some of the more enlightened forumites here may have something like that. Maybe all the tone is in the 2 conductor braid :).

Nah, the truly enlightened have figured out that split coils and such dont usually sound that great so, why bother. Plus, the switches and such become cumbersome and such very quickly. When I first got into working on my own guitars a long time ago, I thought having a bunch of different combos was really cool but, I figured out most sounded like crap and it was not worth my time to even wire it up. I have been enlightened through experience my friend. If you just enjoy tinkering, I understand that though!

Good luck to you on your search. BTW, one thing you could do is this, find a forum bro on here that is expereinced and might be willing to make a single conductor into a 4 for you for a small price. This is probably the ONLY way to get Seths in a 4 cond without ordering them new.

You makd a good point. I agree, there is a lot of truth to what you are saying.

However, I do like split or parallel pups for that clean jangly tone; and I like the OOP of course. Sounds like switching both HBs to series could be usefull too for volume boosts (although there are amp and stompbox solutions for that).

I thought about getting some modded; but by the time I pay for used pups, pay for the mod; and pay for 3 trips shipping. I'm probably just better off getting some "non-relic'd" shiny ones.

Re: WTB: Seth Lover set - 4 conductor

I have to reconnect new 4-wire cables to 2 pickups one of the next days. If you are interested I can let you know how that went, whether I killed my stuff and whether you'd like me to mess with yours. I only work on a no-pay, no-warranty basis, though.

Let me know how it goes; and good luck. Do you know of any online instructions with pictures?

I agree 100%. The only pickup I found somewhat useful split was the JB and that was only marginal. Honestly, the Seth Lover is the last pickup I would consider splitting other than an Antiquity Humbucker.

The mechanics are simple. You need to take the covers off, which requires clipping through or unsoldering the solder points holding them.

Then you need to connect the 2 ends of each coil to the 4 connectors in the new cable and the shield of the cable to where the shield of the old cable was attached. There's not much you can do wrong here (as long as you don't break one of the coil wires), because if you screw up which wire goes to which color you can still use it normally as long as you document what ended up where. There are no connections inside the pickup to screw up anymore, you just get everything routed to the outside.

This isn't too difficult, the major problem is an unexpected one: that your new cable and where you placed it in the pickup comes out too stiff, too thick or misplaced so that you pickup doesn't fit the old pickup cavity and the cable canal.
