Re: WTB VOX Pathfinder Amp
I've got one and love it. It's broke right now (my fault, plugged it into an improperly wired speaker cabinet and something shorted out), but I'll get it fixed and never part with it.
Why not grab one used on Ebay? They're inexpensive little amps and they're very reliable. In fact, a use Vox Cambridge 15 or 30 is relatively inexpensive and is basically a Pathfinder with a preamp tube, a bigger speaker, and more controls. That's gotta be awesome.
I've had mine for 5 years and never had a problem until I fried it a few months back, and that was my fault.
They sound great, nice chimey clean tone, a real tube-like gritty mildly distorted tone, and great snarlying Marshall-esque hard rock tones.
I used mine once on an impromptu jam that got recorded. I was using a friend's MIM Tele on the bridge p'up and the Vox set clean but with the Mid-Boost engaged and the tone was very Jimmy Page-like, all bright and sqawky, really cool. The Mid/Gain Boost is the awesome.
