WWYD? - Jackson Dinky JS42 Ziricote finish

Ok, so, immediately to set things straight: it should read "Shiticote", because that's what it is. The nanoparticle thick layer of a terrible photofinish.
The body is nato wood, so kinda-ish like mahogany (in grain and tonal characteristics) but lighter (in colour and weight).
The neck is roasted maple and I love it, although the 12-16" radius and very thin profile felt weird for the first couple of weeks. This is because I spent most of my playing time on a modern C type and 9,5" radius neck, but hey, this is a totally different beast.

So, here's the question: What would you do with the top?
I can't stand do look at it, it looks so grainy and fake and of an off-hue, cold looking and dead. Like flooring used in a container-office on a build site.
I know there are lots of different people with a diverse set of affinities, so be free to say whatever you think. I'm hoping your ideas might inspire me in choosing a finish/top.
Everything goes, but sanding off the shit-top layer is a must first step. New veneers, quilt tops, stains, bursts, full-natural, it's all fair game. Example or inspiration pic posts are welcome.
I was thinking atleast sanding of the top completely then dark-staining just the top while masking of the back and sides. BUT...since it's gonna get routed for an FR non-fine tuner bridge, it's a good as time as any to go crazy with it.
It already has a graphtech nut and Schaller locking tuners. Currently has SH2N/SH13, but the Jazz is coming out, SH1N going in.

Cheers!

I get that it looks like pressboard furniture. If you have the skills, sand it off, or do some kind of cool solid paint over the entire thing. I'm thinking purple flake.

The Jazz neck is a bit boomy in the neck position of this guitar, is it?

A bit? More like a bat. It was a temporary solution until I've gotten my hands on a great condition used '59 for a really good price.
Jazz/JB await now for a strat-type donor guitar maybe, hsh with an s4m or something in the middle.

Skilled enough to try anything, plus I will have the experienced help needed for whatever goes.
If I were to go solid paint, it would have to be something intense, so purple flake sounds kinda cool.

Keep in mind the boominess in the neck will change when you go to a tremolo with block.

If it's really decal thin don't sand it off - use a cabinet scraper to keep it smooth.

I can borrow a proper blade, tnx for the tip. Honestly, it seems so thin I could just scrape it of with my fingernails. Like a month old booger off the kids' room floor. Looks the part, too.

Bah - just do a light 400 grit to prep it for paint.

But first, let's discuss Axe wraps / guitar skins...

I'd think that a natural finish on the wood underneath could be a cool look. At most I'd check out staining it...but then I 'm a big fan of seeing the wood grain, unless it's really ugly.:)
