Hey guys, i have this old yamaha eg112 that i'm doing up. I will re place the electronics, switches, neck, now i'm just deciding on the Pickups! for the Bridge, i'm thinking custom custom. For the Middle,Maybe a lil 59' or a Jb Jnr. Now for the Neck, i'm unsure. Thinking something more tele' sounding. Any suggestions?

What kind of music do you play? What kind of pickup is in the neck slot? Single coil size or humbucker size? Do you want a noise canceling pickup, single coil or *it doesn't matter as long as it sounds like a Tele?*

Re: Yamaha Fat Strat clone

the neck is single coil, i play alot of stuff like the cure, peal jam, EVH, SRV, hendrix, yaknow classic rock stuff. But ithought it would be interesting to put a different kinda 'classic' pickup in there, so i thought, hey why not something tele sounding. Just something new!

Re: Yamaha Fat Strat clone

I've never been a fan of neck pickups on a Tele. They were always too muddy for my tastes.

The problem as I see it would be a pickguard/routing problem. A Tele neck is smaller than a Strat pickup. Maybe an Alnico II for Strat might get you in the ballpark? If not call MJ at the custom shop. She may be able to make a Tele sounding neck in a Strat size.
