Yamaha Magic Stomp Box-Any Users?

The Owl

This Owl, in the quest for a simple, low-hassle stage setup is seriously looking at buying a Yamaha Magic Stomp box to handle all my effects needs onstage, so, I'm wondering if any one of you owns said device and can comment on your experiences with it.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not impressed with most of the multiFX patches though I must admit not having worked with 'em much. I think it rocks for delay, reverb, and modulation effects. The parametric EQ can do some cool things in an FX loop and the (non-intelligent) pitch shifting can be fun.

I have a Magicstomp that I have used live with a Boogie 50 watt combo. For some reason, I found the tones at volume to be a little harsh and my bandmates agreed with me. I've since gone back to analog stomp boxes.

However, for basic recording and playing around the house, you can't beat it's array of great (32 bit) tones and it's ease of editing.

I agree 1,000% Evan ... there's simply nothing that can compare to the sound of analog stomp boxes!

Well wouldn't ya know it, there's a Guitar Center right near my office. So anyway, yesterday on my lunch break, I went over and tried out the puppy myself. My initial impressions, pretty easy to use, the delay. mod and 'verb patches were pretty good, very useful for what I'd need. The distortion patches were definitely harsh, but not like I'd use 'em anyway (I insist on getting my overdrive straight from the amp). For $169 it packs a lot of useful patches alright (for me at least).
