Yamaha Pacifica 311h. Bridge Humbucker replacement.

Hi all,

I bought a 4 wired Pearly Gates Humbucker for the bridge position.

The pacifica 311H uses a P90 single coil in the Neck and a Humbucker in the bridge. the coil split is controlled by the tone knob and there is a 3 way toggle switch for pick up selection.
I don't found a diagram example that fits exactly with the PAC311h circuit.

The wires coming from the yamaha humbucker are the white going to the coil splitting tone knob, a red going to the pick up selector, the other wires coming from the yamaha humbucker go into a twist of wires from the p90 soldered to the volume pot. (It's hard to see without desoldering but probably a black wire and the braided wire)

The new SD pickup have 4 wires red/green/white/black + braided.

I take a photo of the original estate, and add some "legend" over in a second image to help understanding.

I don't know where I must solder each SD pickup wire. So any help is appreciated.

Thanks all for reading.

solder the red and white wires together (creating the series link) then that connection should go to the push/pull pot. a detailed pic of the contacts on that switch will tell us where.

the green and black wires should be grounded, usually to the back of a pot.

the black wire should go to the 3 way switch

Thanks a lot Jeremy. I will not have time until Weekend. But Ill try it.

Following your instruction is more or less similar to that Diagram: (Except that the pull/push switch is in the Tone pot)

About your suggestion of a detailed pic of the switch contacts. If I am not wrong it should be in the same contact that the current installed Pickup (anyone the one in the middle, only the bridge pickup can be splitted so there is only one pickup connected.)

Thanks again for the help.

the split should go where ever the old split wire connection was on the p/p switch, yes. and that diagram is a good guide

Hello All.

This message is just to say. I made the work as Jeremy explained. It works fine! Sound great.

Thanks all.
