Yamaha T50c (Soldano designed), anyone played one?

Re: Yamaha T50c (Soldano designed), anyone played one?

I regret selling mine! Great combo - glassy cleans, I guess pretty Fender-ish with a nice reverb. The lead channel had crunch for days, I am still trying to find something close to it... My only issue was I couldnt run it hot like it likes so I went a different direction. But, I still finding myself searching for one on Ebay from time to time - now that I know what a power attenuator is :13:

Oh, and I got nothing but help from the guys at Soldano, Mike designed it and Yamaha cheaped the circuit on him so the relationship stopped but he still stands by the amp since it has his name on it...

I had a T100 head and my experience was very different from Dan's.

I owned a HR50 and a Decatone and IME the Yamaha didn't sound all that much like a "real" Soldano. It didn't sound bad but it didn't have the tone that I really liked in my Soldanos. The attribute in which it most resembled the Soldanos I played was in that the FX loop was pretty weak.

The folks at Soldano were very cool about supporting it. They'll even mod the Yamahas.

Overall, I wasn't sorry I bought it but I'm not particularly sorry I sold it, either.
