Yamano Les Paul anyone?

They're supposed to be "hand picked" guitars and are therefore above average quality.

I just traded my SG standard + an Ibanez + cash for this 90s Yamano LP Standard

It's got a unique light brown finish, slim headstock like the older Gibsons, and an OHSC similar to the custom shop ones (broken handle though). Neck is more of a 59 profile, not quite fat but also clearly not a 60s neck.

Pickups were replaced by the previous owner to a set of Duncan JB + 59.

Still undecided which pickups I'll drop in but most likely a set of BL L-500s in black. I'll also switch back to normal stringing from the current wrap around.

Will clean it up once I've decided on the pickups (also thinking about the low output option of the PGb and Jazz in zebra)

That's a pretty cool, unique guitar! I would love to see pics when it is all cleaned up and set up the way you like. I am also curious about the year.

I’ve read they are great guitars so congrats on an awesome find. Not a massive fan of the brown oak colour if I’m honest and if I were lucky enough to own it I’d just get the top refinished… in lemon burst. Looking forward to your update once you’ve got it modded.

When I first saw it, I thought (and was hoping) it was Walnut top... Just to give it a different "flavor" from my other standards

And by the way, I got lucky as it has a 1-piece back

Yeah I wondered if it was oak or another wood but zoomed in and thought it was maple. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t P’ing on your parade I’d still love it. I’ve seen a fair Yamano LP’s from Japan over the years but couldn’t afford them so let’s just say I’m somewhat green with envy!

Love the color. It plays off the gold hardware and cream pickguard and rings perfectly. Play it in good health.

I got lucky, I traded 2 guitars + cash for it. So I got a good deal from it and got to dispose 1 guitar which made it a great deal!

I just keep picturing Nick Yamana playing an LP when I read the title.

Thats a seriously beautiful guitar. If you do swap out the pickups, I agree with Securb and think covers or 2 zebras would look better.

If I go to Zebras it will be a set of low output pickups...

All my other LPs have high output bridge pups then APH1 or APH2 at the neck... Probably a good change to go low output this time around

I can imagine that having a really great honky tone with some Seth/ Ant type low winds. I keep searching Yamano Les Pauls now because of your guitar!!

Finally got to replace the pups.

Ordered new pickup rings coz I don't want to widen the hole for the pickup height screws on the original.
