YAWT (Yet another wiring thread)

I've been asked by a friend to replace the pups on his guitar. Setup is Hum - Hum -1 vol - Killswitch - 3-way blade.
The soldering is easy enough, and the kill switch isn't a problem, since it's still connected to the old pot (friend already removed the pups).
Where I'm stuck is how to wire the 3-way blade, I don't know how the poles translates to Duncan's wiring diagram (see below).

Furthermore, the original jack is one of those long-shaft TRS for active pups. New ones are passive, but I don't have any replacement jack. How do I find out which solder point goes to ground and which one goes to signal (pot)? I have a voltmeter, but I'm honestly not entirely sure how to use it.

OK, I sorted out the jack mystery with some testing and a stereo cable. Yay. Now onto the 3-way switch.

You think trying to figure out a 3-way switch is tough, wait till you try and wire a 5-way super switch to do series/parallel switching on two out of three pickups!!!! There are 24 connections on this thing and you have to be rather crafty to get what you want out of it. I have a Strat with a Humbucker in the bridge and neck positions, and a single-coil in the middle position. I wanted to make it so that the humbuckers were series/parallel in positions 1-2 & 4-5 where position 3 would be just the middle pickup alone. With a super switch, you can often get the selector to sit in between two positions and acquire another couple sounds. In which case I am able to get the bridge and middle to do just that. So I have essentially 6 different sounds I can get. The hard part is finding wiring for one of these with the same thing you're looking for. I couldn't find one and I had to trudge new ground. It took me a few tries on paper to see it.

In your case, you can generally find a wiring schematic in google images pretty easily. If not, using your multi-meter can then be used to quickly sus it out much like you did your jack. The thing to understand is that the switch rocks back and forth. This means there can only be 6 connections of which the switch sweeps across, the others that it cannot sweep across are the output. This is how you get three selections. That's why the two lugs are bridged together on the switch on both sides. This is what makes it possible for both pickups to be on in the middle position. You can almost bet that if you connect your pickups to those bridged lugs you will get sound. The two center lugs on that type of switch are often the output. So the pickups would connect to the respective bridged lugs and the output would run from the center two lugs of the switch.

I must be missing something, but I checked the switch with my multimeter and in the isolated position (Neck and bridge) I can find the connection, but nothing in the middle. Red lines indicates continuity.
