Year of the Mini

So let me get this straight...

Mini Tube Screamer...

Mini 6505?!

Dunlop, Ibanez, and Peavy couldn't have orchestrated this all on purpose...

Or could they?

Re: Year of the Mini

Mini pedals......yes to a degree. The fuzz face had a lot of internal waste space so I can see the sense. Other mini pedals, can sometimes make it hard to hit the switch if you succumb to the temptation simply to jamb more pedals on the board.

Min wah however....not sure on that one. You'd have to have it underfoot so see if your balance or foot action can deal with it. Might take a whole new learning experience if the lever action is different to the full sized one.

Mooer power to your elbow.

Maybe, these things will sell better with famous brand names on them?

Re: Year of the Mini

I don't want my wah to feel like I'm rocking the arch of my foot over a curb.

What I'd rather see instead of shrinking everything down is companies moving the I/Os of their pedals to the top where they belong. You save a lot more space being able to route your connections across the tops of your pedals than you do with cables everywhere, in between a bunch of tiny pedals.

Re: Year of the Mini

There are a lot of people (on the internet) looking for a Pedaltrain Mini sized wah. This should fit the bill, same with the Fuzz Face Minis.

Re: Year of the Mini

I like the bigger pedals to be honest. My small stone in the big box allowed me to replace four of the capacitors and turn it into a univibe. Try ****ing modding anything on that tiny surface mounted circuit board for the tube screamer.

Re: Year of the Mini

I think mini pedals work best on pedals that you "set and forget" rather than the ones you tweak often or on the fly - smaller pedals usually mean smaller knobs that are harder to get to quickly. I use both the Xotic EP and SP, but the EP is 1 knob and the SP is set exactly the way I want it for my amp and is either on or off.

I'm all for smaller wahs (always good to save PB real estate), but that mini Cry Baby is too small - Xotic has one that seems more the right size for me.

*Disclaimer* I have no affiliation with Xotic effects - I just like and use their products.

Re: Year of the Mini

I have the mini Morley and fairly large feet and it works out fine. I had the giant first gen silver Morley but it was taking up too much real estate on my board.

Re: Year of the Mini

I want an "expression" type pedal to fit the whole of my size 10 1/2 foot. The smallest I would go would be the Keeley two knob compressor or Katana boost. Standard Boss and Ibanez size are about right. My TT Mayhem and three way Carvin switch for my XV-212 are about the top limit.
