Yet another makeover

This guitar is a workhorse for me

A simple Epi Trad Pro that has become one of my favorite guitars. I keep messing with it and dialing it in and out, never lets me down. Gave it some new knobs and swapped in a fave neck pup of mine. Its made by a friend of mine, A5U PAF 7.8k, great Rock voice. Replaced a 59n, I swapped out with my Gibby. It's matched up with an early L500XL in the bridge.

While it is done a little less than elegantly the long neck tenon in this guitar seems to make it fight far out of its class.

Nice!

I've noticed #1 guitars just happen. Not related to brand or price. You just play and play and after a few years you realize, "this is my #1"

Re: Yet another makeover

I would tend to agree with you on that.

Not sure I really have a number one but this one does show up at all lot of gigs lately, recording too. It's a good weight, a little flatter carve to the top, very comfortable and not too precious. I'd like to get a better tailpiece for it, I like to top-wrap the strings and they've cut into the stock tail and worn some grooves into it.

Re: Yet another makeover

This probably real #1, this got 59n in the deal. Looks way better with 2 double blacks in it

Cool story and upgrades!! Agree fully with much said. number 1s seem to happen.. I have a couple I WANT to be my #1, but I seem to enjoy others more. Also, Ill say too, that EPI gets alot of slagging on forums, (In years past it may have been warranted, but now its brand snobbery) they are making some really outstanding guitars lately.. I have a 60s tribute and got it at a great price, and that thing plays great, sounds great and since it isnt so "precious" (nice term), I play it more freely and thus seem to get more inspiration...
