Hey all,
Looking to drop something into an 70's fender p/J. I think that the precision QP might be a little hi-fi for me, as I'd like to be able to come close to an expected P tone. The J pickup will be rolled on a little to add some edge here and there, so I was looking at some combo's.
First thoughts for the P are the Hot for P. The SD tone charts say its higher in the mid than their vintage, but how is it for a classic ish P tone? I would like to have some extra in the bottom, but not as scooped as the QP sounds.
For the J, the hot stack seems to be recomended alot, but has anyone done a QP J with a hot stack (or vintage P)? I imagine there'd be an output mismatch, but thats not too much of an issue if I can just drop the J's volume. My thoughts were that I could add a little of that hi-fi tone here and there when I needed, but have the classic(ish) p tone on hand when I wanted. This may be really stupid, but any thoughts or recomendations would be great.
Thanks a bunch,
-Chris
