Yet Another Peavey Classic Thread

I've been trying to look for this info everywhere and haven't been too successful yet so I decided to make my own thread.

I've wanted a Peavey Classic 50 for a while now and have been checking craig's list constantly to find one. I found a 212 for a great price but was wondering one thing...

Is the circuit and amp in the 212 the exact same as the 410? Basically...is the ONLY difference the attached cab? Because if that's the case, I will get the 212 and maybe buy a 410 cab sometime if I feel I need one.

Thnx

cool...exactly what i needed to know, thnx

It's just hard to get the exact question you need answered when looking all over the internet sometimes, no matter how small it is.

I thought about it, but its way too loud and heavy. I want to crank it without a hotplate. also its open back, so its not gonna give you the ultimate hard rock sound or anything. it just depends what style of music you play really, and how heavy of an amp your willing to lug around. Id go with the fender pro junior over this one since you can crank it to get more dynamics at reasonable volumes. 212s are always gonna weigh alot!

Re: Yet Another Peavey Classic Thread

too bad you didn't start this thread about 6 months ago. i was trying to sell my 1979 peavey classic 2x12. i think it got as low as $150 at the local consignment shop. then, the more i thought about it the more i kept thinking i would regret selling it. luckily it didn't. i put some swamp thang speakers in it, new tubes, and now i really love it. sorry for hijacking your thread. the peaveys are rock solid. i think the only reason they don't get more love is that they aren't fenders or marshalls.

Great amp (owned one), although the Classic 30 does the trick for me. Loud enough for the gigs I do, and easy to carry.

Re: Yet Another Peavey Classic Thread

I get tickled at all the guys who'll walk right past the Peavey Classic amps, and walk out with something that says Fender or Marshall, but sounds no better and costs more, to boot.
