YJM neck tone (a little different... in a Charvel)

Re: YJM neck tone (a little different... in a Charvel)

ALRIGHT!!! Just got the YJM neck in... it matches FANTASTICALLY with the JB. No problem at all with output differences/pickup height, even with the JB split. I think the spilt JB is thin now, compared to the Fury, so the best TONE comes from the JB FULL COIL and Fury. But full or split, there's no volume/output problems between them.

I decided to not even wire the Fury for coil split, and I'm glad... the thing sounds like a single coil (altho a HOT one) as is. I definitely is a component to that YJM tone.

The conversion ring didn't work as well as planned... the holes didn't line up with the original HB ring holes, so I had to drill new ones, so it's really a temporary fix... I'll either find the correct size conversion ring, or I'll fill in the front cavity & refinish... kind of a big job, not sure when I'll have time for that.

I have one of the older JBs, so it doesn't have the "Seymour Duncan" name on the pickup like the new ones do... that would be cool, because the YJMs do... anyway, here's a pic... like I said, it's a temporary installation, just to test the pup. I'll do a proper re-install as soon as I get time.
