Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

I enjoyed it alot!Nice tone...Needs a tad more sustain ,maybe the PU is too close to the string.I dunno!:D
But great playing and really clear tone!
Good DD presentation ahah:D

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

I always wondered what Yngwie would sound like with humbuckers.
rhythm tone is better
lead tone not quite as good.

Great playing. Some slop, but mostly on target.
Nice job. I hope to hear more from you.

BTW, what amp and recording equip. were used?

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Thanks guys!
All I use is a Schecter C-1 Classic and VOX DA5 direct into PC.

I'm not Yngwie, and I simply can't do economy picking (I'm a strict alt. picker) so the whole solo was improvised.:P

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Yeah I am big fan of his, but my tendency to alternate picking throws me off every time I try, some day you guys will hear my horrific version of Black Star. But dude I thought it sounded killer on rythm, especially the main riff, that dryness of his stacked pup bothered me always on that riff, with DD its nice and juicy.

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

that is why i love the DD and your playing is much better than mine dude! you help the classic shine! sadly i haven't caught up to it value.

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Sounds cool mate! I can't play this way, kicks my hat off!

3:46 way too cool! B-)

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

not only is your playing very tight, but your recording is really impressive.

how do you pull off such a good recording? any editing/mastering tricks?

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Thanks guys!

I hardly do any editing, just some slight EQing to bring out the highs a little and keep everything tighter.

Not using too much gain helps a lot when doing Yngwie's songs, since his strength is in his definition of notes and chords.

True. But this riff is beging for a bucker and you did it really well, I think the main thing in nailing YJM's lead tones is the whole issue of non-master volume amps. So I think you did very impressive job considering the variables of your experiment. BTW, I've read somewhere that a lot of rythm parts on his albums are recorded on 57's black LP. I've actually seen that thing my YJM show, he opened with it with Black Star back in 1992 in gone but legendary San Francisco
The Stone on broadway. Anyways, his live tone is not always that great as his album tone, part of it could be the less paul thing, if he does use it, WTF is the big deal of playing buckered strat ??? anyways dude, awesome job.

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

This is a pretty cool tune!

Crazy playing mate. WOW! Dont know many people who can pull that stuff off.

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Crazy vibe there! Jealousy inducing chops, and a tasty vibrato to boot.

Not only that, but you did a fantastic job of capturing the tone of the DD.

I'd be way proud of that! :bigok:

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Dude, the playing is outstanding, although it's not Yngwies tone obviously. .It sounds darker than his, but I actually like it better as I think he has too screechy a tone, or two trebly a tone.. if that makes sense? At least on some of his leads I do when he uses his lead pickup.. He seems to use only the neck pup and the lead pup exclusively.. I've never seen him use the Mid pup.. and I have had many video's, etc, seen him on the net..
You'[re playing is right on though it seems to me.. Very good! Your very tight!

Tim

I recently recorded a cover of Yngwie Malmsteen's I'll See the Light, Tonight for fun and to test my new DDs.

My playing is sloppy but I hope you enjoy it;)

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Thanks!

I wasn't aiming for Yngwie's tone at all, though :P
I'm satisfied with the tone of this record :)

Thats such a sweet little amp isn't it.

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

I love those amps.. They rock..
Guitar sounds great.. I'd add a little compression to the lead, but that's really being picky and splitting hairs just to find some way to improve what's allready great tone dude.. Keep it up, and keep rocking!

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

You have some seriously terrifying chops, sir! I would love to hear more of your playing and some original tunes; there's no doubt you can carry on a lead!

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

Great playing, although not totally clean (I though can't play that good) The sound is great, especially on rhythms, but lead tones are good too!
(the guitar is also totally different from YJM's Strats, so that makes great part of the difference also (and amp..)

Re: Yngwie cover, DDs in action!

I like it :)

a little more clarity on the rhythms, but it's definitely got the vibe

great lead too, and one of my favorite Yngwie tunes
