Yngwie's vibrato sounds like the fat lady in the church choir that sings like a dying moose! His tone is along the lines of a nail running down a chalk board.

I posted this link earlier today in a different thread. I assume that's where this came from. Alex Flouros is more than just some dude that can play Yngwie - he does Satch and Vai in the same way. He's just a monster player. His own stuff is bad-ass too.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade here; but I'm not really hearing anything stand out. The guy is a nice player; but it just sounds like he's copying the artists of the songs he's copying. I know I'm not a super player; but I know what I like and I know what I hear. I do like his vibrato though.... I liked "The Loner" best too...

Ah it's Alex Flouros, I've seen the video then. He's a good enough player, but like Butch said he's just copping Yngwie and Satch's stuff. His own stuff is pretty cool, but I place much more merit on that. Anyone can sit down with sheet music and eventually nail another person's song.

Dug it. That dude is a good player. There is something very cool about a big fat dude shredding away... the late great Shawn Lane (RIP) was one of my favorites and too many people never got to hear him. I still have never heard anyone play the stuff that guy could play.
I like this guy though, he makes it look pretty damn easy- i had to struggle my a$$ off with Far Beyond the Sun.

Alex is a great player, plus he is a down to earth kinda guy, his own stuff and the things he played at jams are awesome pieces.
He has a good feeling and it is deadfunny to see him with his LP all relaxed and firing off those burning lines.
And he is not walking over anyone, it is not his desire to do so...music is not a goddamm competition, I know Alex does not feel that way, he is always polite and respectful towards others.

Also keep in mind - that he wouldn't even be shredding without Yngwie in the first place. Yngwie is a character who came up with the neo-classical style.
I checked out this guys stuff and it's nowhere near as distinctive as Yngwie's, so I tend to disagree.
I personally liked Yngwie's version better. He puts more emotion in it. This guy is just sorta sleeping and playing at the same time.stratovarius said:

Why do you write like you're defending him for some reason. I don't believe anyone said anything negative. Your language here is really strong and aggressive. If you're defeding him against what I said, I wasn't being negative. I didn't hear anything I hadn't heard before. He's a really great player. There's no doubt. But it's all subjective. I also said things I enjoyed hearing. And I don't think anyone said anything about a competition...
