That guy is f*cking amazing.... holy crap. He just sits there shredding his ass off.. :laugh2: I don't think I've ever seen anyone play like THAT while practically sleeping in a chair.
But anyway, I think all of you guys are being a little too argumentative about all this. The guy covered a Yngwie song, he played it REALLY WELL. It doesn't matter whether he plays it better than Yngwie or not, because that happens sometimes; someone covers a song and to some people it sounds better, to others it sounds worse. I've heard the original version of the song Paint It Black (by The Doors, is it?) and personally I think it sounds like crap. But that's because I just naturally take to heavier music. I hope I don't get shot for this, but I think that Gob (although I'm not a fan) did a really good cover of Paint It Black because the guitars have that modern high gain grind and it's just more my style than the original. I'm certain there are those who are partial to the original version.
The fact is even if Alex is just copying a song by Yngwie, he's a great player to be able to master all the techniques he has and I think he should be revered for it!!

He can definitely play, I don't see anything special in that clip though. It's just copying, anybody can play a piece over enough times and eventually be able to play it. Plus sitting in a chair in your bedroom is far different than playing with a band in front of an audience. He can definitely play but so can a zillion other people.

This guy is obviously not a typical full throttle shred head. His version of Cause we Ended as Lovers is quite superb.... the guy is a great player and he effortlessly played that Malmsteen tune. Thanks for posting the link. I listened to about 10 of his MP3s this afternoon. Great stuff. The dude was a monster at age 13!!!

He posts on the Harmony Central forum a bit - seems like a nice guy. He definitely can play, and he cops tone like a mutha.
I think we can all appreciate his level of skill at copping Vai and Malmsteen - it ain't easy and I'd struggle to run thru the first four bars of any of their songs. He's also got a nice tone which is a big bonus. Lets all sit back and admire the view

hey guys when you say that he walked all over Yngwie's song remember that Yngwie wrote the song!! he may in fact be a better player than Yngwie ( his orginal stuff sounds amazing) but you cant play a song better than the artist who wrote it.

I've heard Alex's stuff before. The guy is incredible! Gotta love the sound clips of great top of the line gear being put through it's paces with a supremely talented individual

I was able to go in and watch one of the videos. That's where I was impressed. His band has a very nice and professional showcase.
