Yngwie's Signature Strat.

I'm not familiar with the pickups in Yngwie's Strat. Are all three of them stacked humbuckers? Or are they single coils, they don't sound like single coils so they must be stacked humbuckers right? I'm looking at getting a Splatter swirl strat and I'd like to purchase the same pups that are in Yngwie's strat if I can.

dimarzio Hot Stack 3 (HS-3) bridge and two Dimarzio YJM in the neck and middle.

yes, they are stacked, hum canceling singles

Well, those are the pups in the Fender YJM Strat. As for what Yngwie is using, peronsonally, in all his guitars, I don't know.

Re: Yngwie's Signature Strat.

on his "duck" '72 strat (the one used on his first album) the neck and bridge are HS-3s , the middle is stock.

Re: Yngwie's Signature Strat.

Even out of the Malmsteen signature USA Fenders, there are two types.

The first one is the original specs...has a small, vintage 50's headstock. Two point American Standard Trem. DiMarzio HS-3's in the neck and bridge with a Fender Standard Single coil in the middle. 5-way switch.

The second one...has late 60's headstock shape. 6 point vintage Fender Tem. DiMarzio YJM in the neck and middle, HS-3 in the bridge. It has a three way switch, if I recall.

There has also been a Japanese series, where you could get black and cream/vintage white-really yellow. I'm not sure if you can get these anymore.

There are some differences between the sig series and what Yngwie plays. He has said that his personal guitars have a deeper scallop and he uses 'metal' screws to bolt the neck on-tightly. He says this gives a more resonant tone.
