Yo Zerb!!!

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

And I don´t know where these people are seeing used jackson soloists in the 1200$ range, because they´re not on eBay... it´s very VERY rare for a standard soloist to go for above 1k used, regardless of color. If of course you´re looking at San Dimas soloists, well these have an extra 20 years of Mojo, that always costs extra :D

This isn´t entirely correct. THe FR on the New SL-3 is the PING version, which is IIRC MIK (OR MIC, but definitely not by Schaller in Germany). And yes, there is a difference both in tone and in quality. The PING units are good, but will IMO never reach the quality of the Schaller-made units ;)

Dang it! I knew I would mess up on some spec.

But about those prices Zerb, for whatever reason lately I've seen very few cheaper soloists unless they were the professional series or beat to hell. For whatever reason, it seems like the good soloists on ebay are commanding around 1100-1200. Another curious thing, most of these aren't even starting out low. It's not uncommon to see a good used one start at 1100 or more. Maybe it's christmas coming up but it seems like its more a sellers market on the soloists right now. When I bought mine two years ago it was definately a buyers.

*note none of my above comments pertain to plain black soloists :fingersx:

Floyd Rose® FRT-O2000 Tremolo as oposed to Floyd Rose® Original™ Double Locking 2-Point Tremolo (SL1 description)

first time i'm seeing that number..
i was under the impression they'll gonna start putting realy OFR's on them..
but that would only be like, the fretboard wood & binding removed from the SL1 (apart of some other specs, such as fretboard radius, inlay material)

I guess thats the difference zerb was referring to. Probably better than the Jackson trem and not as good as an OFR.

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

he said it's one of the Ping floyds..
they're the only licensed floyd that have are Floyd Rose stamped.
fender uses em on their FR equiped guitars i think.

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

I have to agree with Vinterland, Zerb.
Looking a Ebay lately, it seems used USA Jackson Soloists are going
For over a 1K.
Though I do agree with you, not long ago, you could score a used USA Soloist for around $800 to $900.

I think it's Gibson syndrome.
Prices on new Soloists have risen quite a bit the last couple years.
Not too long ago you could get a new SL2H with a Flame maple top for around $1350. Now they seem to be almost $2000.
Thus, pushing up the price of used ones.
Especially since Superstrats seem to be getting a little more popular again.

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

Sweet.

I think ill take a closer look at the RR models.

if i happen to find a used one, what should i take a look at?

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

Yeah I think the superstrat market has become more in demand. The same thing can also be said for some of the Charvel models as it relates to Jackson. My 650xl that I sold this summer got a lot of attention and sold for way more than I expected. A couple years back people were literally giving away model 6's and the such on ebay. Also, Jackson/Charvel has a much stronger presence in the market than before since coming under the FMIC banner so the demand has probably increased.

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

i'm gonna be realy pissed off, if i dont get a predator or 3dr body for cheap!!!

but that means i gotta get me a paypal account.. and that aint gonna happen anytime soon LOL

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

does charvel continue to produce guitars?

i mean,i know they have those EVH models, but you dont really see anything else around...

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

Cool, which one?

Interesting statement... the only guitars Jackson/Charvel ever manufactured in Korea were the PS-1 thru PS-7 Performers. THe first 2 years they were still MIJ, then production of this series was moved to Korea and 2 years later the series AND Production facility were axed because of massive quality issues.... These are generally regarded as the worst guitars JCMI ever produced, possibly some of the worst ever by a US based company... :eek13:

It's a MIJ DKMG and not MIK- I just said MIK because basically I was just guessing. Sorry about the confusion. :smack:

It's got very good sustain and I've had it for almost 2 years and the pots haven't even gone scratchy yet! All my other low-end Jacksons had this problem but this one hasn't yet. Odd (but grateful :D).

Re: Yo Zerb!!!

well dude, it looks pretty sweet.

i bet it sounds better. lol.

I think ill go with a RR.

are there any negative aspects of these?
