I'd keep the old Gretsch with car stereo speakers! LOL
But search Craigslist and Recycler for giveaways. Something like a Bassman LTD would retain that 'old mojo' but have all fresh components and speakers that'll last decades.
My Gibson Goldtone has a vintage look, but it's not vintage, and it's not point to point.
I don't care because the thing sounds really good, and most people that have heard the Goldtones (such as Joe Perry) and compared them to old Gibson amps know the Goldtones sounded better. Plus, it has a boost, reverb, Celestions, and needs no maintenance.
