Not 100% sure how to ask this correctly.

What is your favorite tone by an artist, while playing a Gibbo 335-style guitar.

It can be any semi-hollow ES. 335, 355, 345, 345 Stereo, 347, BB King Lucile, you name it.

Feel free to post youtube clips.

BB King for sure. Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour. The Beatles with their Casinos. Warren Haynes. John Scofield. Session man Louie Shelton. Clapton on "Wheels Of Fire". Spyro Gyra guitarist Chet Catallo used a 347 both times I saw them live.

I'm sure there are many more. I love my 335s.

This right here. All the leads and distorted guitars are on an ES-335 and so is the left side of the clean tone.

Re: You fav ES-335 style tone ?

BB King's mid 1960's 'Live at the Regal' tone was the best I've ever heard from him. I had a great organic wood sound to it.

Another one to add would be Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues. Very underrated player.

No one particular favorite tone...but if I had to pick it would probably be Mr. 335 himself...Larry Carlton.

Robbed Ford has been known to strum one. And forgot blues maven Elvin Bishop, who "Fooled Around" on a 345.

That's the quintessential 335 TONE for me. ;)

It's weird because I simultaneously believe that John Scofield has one of the best ES-335 tones I've ever heard, and one of the worst. It's strange, wooly, buzzy, and somehow it's perfect and sits exactly in the mix. I hatelove it so hard.

While not known specifically for his ES-335, I'm a big fan of what Bill Frisell has been doing with his Colling's recentlys.

Re: You fav ES-335 style tone ?

Dickey Betts was smokin' on that red 335 back in the 90s. Those live clips are what made me realize that 335s could rock as hard as anything else.

Re: You fav ES-335 style tone ?

Steve Howe using an ES-347 on 'Close to the Edge'.

John McLaughlin using some sort of ES-345 in the mid 70s that had a scalloped neck. He used it with his One Truth Band.

Re: You fav ES-335 style tone ?

This was just posted today on Andertons, I don't really know who the guitar player is but it's a great tune and an AMAZING 335 tone.

Shuggie Otis on his first album, Here Comes Shuggie Otis. Some of his tones are still benchmarks after all these years. The fact he was 15 years old when he recorded this still blows my mind.
