those single coils are pretty fierce after all .

i'm thinking i don't want to do the lipstick tubes in my strat. unless you all can convince me other wise. i'm looking for a set of NON_HUMBUCKER strat single coils that get a good chili peppers sound (clean), and a good classic/prog rock sound if possible. have to be true single coil if possible and strat size.

i use a boogie nomad 100 soon to be retubed w/ shaguang gen 8 silver dragons in V1 and V2. besides that all stock (6l6s). it runs through a marshall 4x12 w/ g12h75's in it. there's going to be a varitone circuit in the tone 3

SSL-1's do a fine job of the John Frusciante thing to my ears, but you might want something a little hotter in the bridge with a tap for vintage and hot sounds all in one. Send Zhangliquin a PM (I probably spelt his forum name wrong), he'll wind you one that'll do both. I'm using a custom wound pup by him in the bridge that goes from vintage to hot via a push/pull pot and two SSL-1's in the middle/neck. Very happy with it.

Out of the production models, I'd go with a pair of APS-2's in the neck and mid and a Twangbanger in the bridge.

Zhang winds some mean pickups too (for not a lot of money). Shoot him a PM describing what you want and he'll build you exactly what you need.

He wound a Paul Bunyan tele lead for me and it rips.

I have the same set up and I couldn't be happier......I'm gonna have him wind me a mid & neck after x-mas.
