To come home and find this on your kitchen table ...

This one is from the wife, she apparently noticed that I casually looked at a MF mag the other day and said "wow sweet" and she got the idea to just spontaneously buy it for me without telling me.

HAHAH

It will be used for our house that we are buying so I dont have to lug my marshall head around to and from our church where I would need it 2-3 times a week.

Now, time to build a sweet 12" speaker cab for it!

Re: You know what is sweet..

nice!

My lady got me a Squier '51 because she saw me looking at em on MF, too!

Glad to hear somebody else gets treated as well as I do!

Let me know how you like the head, I'm interested in these little guys

Re: You know what is sweet..

Great little head

Actually I hooked it up to 2x10's in my cabinet 8 Ohm played like this

Guitar->SD-1->Arion Tubulator->Valve Jr.

It was seriously loud enough to make ears bleed when cranked...in a good way...

Nice spongey fuzz when just playing a guitar straight into it with the volume way up.

exactly what I was hoping for, nice little amp.

Re: You know what is sweet..

My wife just hit me in the head with a frying pan :headache:

Re: You know what is sweet..

Have you seen the new matching cab for it?

well i saw a pic of it at MF's website in the gallery for the valve jr head. Looks nice, would be nice to have but can't really find it for sale anywhere, plus I think I have a 12"-er around here and have plenty of wood so I'll probably just DIY it.

Re: You know what is sweet..

Make sure you research the internet for Epiphone Valve Jr. mods. Apparently, there's a few design blunders which can be corrected with a soldering iron, which make the amp sound better and run quieter. Look into it. I don't know enough about it to fill in the details, but there's a legion of Valve Jr. owners that can give you a lot of tips.

Re: You know what is sweet..

That's a funky-looking cab.

Before I got my VJ head, I was planning to get some modifications done. I ended up really liking the stock form, so it's still all stock right now. Also, the noise problems with the early versions of the Valve Jr. combo have since been resolved at Epiphone.

Jones, you have to change that avatar.
