You know what sucks?

When you're jonesin' for a new amp and prior financial obligations prevent you from pulling the trigger. I missed out on a mint Orange or15 for $500. It's depressing, guys.

Re: You know what sucks?

Ugh, yea. I feel ya. I keep wanting to step it up and get a Carvin half-stack, but even the dumbest of dummies who're selling X100bs and MTSs seldom dip below $350. The twin nemeses of a Hovercraft amp and a Nighthawk in honeyburst are always on my mind too. $650 ain't much for an amp, but it's out of my reach.

Re: You know what sucks?

Yeah, man. Every time I put some cash aside for my "amp fund" something comes up and I gotta dip into the stash to take care of it. It doesn't help when you basically work off of commission and the bean counters keep reducing the percentage you make. I wish you the best of luck in your quest for a carvin.

Re: You know what sucks?

What also sucks is not being where you can get stuff you'd like to try out. I could afford if I could find stuff. Whilst I was back home over Christmas, I tried a Tubemeister 18 and a JMP1 - didn't really like either. Fly back here and one week later, the same store announces they're about to stock Splawn and they get the Suhr Badger 18 back in stock - can't win with amps it seems...

Re: You know what sucks?

I was going to say hookers and vacuums but yeah that is pretty bad too.

Damn, dude. I've never tried a splawn but if I was in the market for one, that would break my hear

Through the miracle of eBAy and Craigslist, every missed opportunity will come around again. Patience...

This. I used to go nuts when I missed out on something I reaaaaaly wanted and you know what? Something even better came around every time.

Re: You know what sucks?

Well, here's to hoping. I'll keep my ear to the ground and with some luck I'll have a new amp to abuse soon.

Re: You know what sucks?

I've got my eye on the new Fender "drip edge" Princeton Reverb. I have an original Super Reverb and Deluxe Reverb. I think it would look cool having all three. But then I think about it and talk myself out of it. I really DONT need another amp

Re: You know what sucks?

You do if you need to plug into all three at once.

I have a Shiva & Komet 60. I also have a Marshall 900, a Super Reverb and a deluxe reverb both Fenders are original drip edge era Silvers. I usually play through the Shiva a:b'd with the Komet. As I said I really don't need another amp. The Komet cured all my amp gas.

Re: You know what sucks?

just figure (1) once you get what your jonesing for, youll just (2) want some more other stuff

so by controlling yourself from buying now you put out (2) two fires, prolly have what you need at this point, at least that is what I tell myself with my hoarder pile of gear ;)

In general, yes but I don't think I'll ever see GC blowing out PRS Singlecuts (US-made) for $800 again. Heck, I haven't seen that pricing that low on used ones.

The only thing that kept me from doing that deal was my own stupidity. They wouldn't give me what I wanted in trade so I passed even though I had the funds to do the deal.
