You know what sucks?

Re: You know what sucks?

I have a Shiva & Komet 60. The Komet cured all my amp gas.

Like you, I don't need any more amps. But I'll never forget tax time in 2008. I was being screwed by the IRS and had to give them $2800 because they wouldn't let me claim my wife since she didn't have a SS card yet.
As I was writing the check to the IRS, I spotted someone letting go of a mint Komet 60 on Craigslist for $2500.
That put me in a really bad mood. I've always wanted a Komet.

Re: You know what sucks?

I've been getting Orange GAS lately......it's bad. When I am off from work due to snow/ice and nowhere to go, it's unavoidable for me to end up cruising ebay (evilbay) at some point....

I got mine for about that as well I got it from a guy on the west coast. I recently retuned it with EL34 Svetlana tubes and an old friend gave me some old Bugle boy pres so the amp is sounding really good. When I first got it I spoke with Komet and they recommended using Greenbacks with this amp. So about a month or so later I replaced my Peavey bottom with a Marshall 1960 AX. THAT CAB made a world of difference and it's amazing how responsive it is with all guitars. I've been playing telecasters lately and the amp is sparkling with a Tele.

Re: You know what sucks?

You should see if Komet will sell you a matching 212 or 412 empty. You never know when they'll be gone.

My favorite feature on the Komet is the bias knob on the chassis. And the tone......basically, the best and fattest sounding vintage Marshall.

Re: You know what sucks?

About 8 years ago I found a Carvin XV-212 for $237. A year later I managed to find a matching 4X12 cab for it for $200. All I've ever had to do is replace one speaker in the combo, along with a couple of sets of tubes. Nothing like a little serendipity.

Re: You know what sucks?

When you're jonesin' for a new amp and prior financial obligations prevent you from pulling the trigger. I missed out on a mint Orange or15 for $500. It's depressing, guys.
I read you loud and clear. Going through it, since a little over a week. And now when I can pull the trigger it is out of stock.
