Re: You say you want surf metal?!

hmm, never thought about reverb on the main guitars. that goes against all my metal training, but I'll play with it. the human part was supposed to come from me during programming, but I really hate programming drums.

Start with reverb on an aux bus, and route each instrument through it with your DAW. Make it subtle, it'll give your mix an... I guess I'd call it an 'identity'. For the drums, in particular, look into Battery, or EZDrummer (Drumkit From Hell, or any of their new kits), which for programming (if you're not actually playing/using pressure sensitive pads/keys) let you enable a mode that randomizes velocities in your hits (within a given set of parameters), so that it doesn't sound like a machine as much.

I use Battery 3 through a cheap Simmons electronic kit with nice Alesis Surge cymbals and I get great dynamics when set up properly.

Hehe, cool stuff, Dank. I've been trying to start up a proper surf/metal crossover thing for a while myself. Problem is, no-one here listens to surf music 'cept your tuly.

I'm sure someone has mentioned it before, but some nice, big reverbs or drnching chorus wouldn't hurt if you want the surf sound.

Thanks for the tips coma! That's funny you were already into that mix of genres. I need to move to Sweden.
