Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

Either one of these Stagemasters. Both have JB_J's, in addition to playing like a dream.

Any one of these that I happen to have in hand at any given time.

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

I have played a few:
A Klein electric...based on a Steinberger with a more ergonomic body shape, it was the best guitar I have ever picked up. The price was as out-of-sight as the guitar.
Klein-500.jpg
An Eastman El Rey, which comes in at a better price.

A Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion (from the 80s).

And an Ibanez 540R from the 80s.
Ibanez 540R Jewel Red.jpg

These of course are ones I don't own. My Music Man Silhouette Special with a scalloped neck is certainly one of the best guitars I've ever played, and it has been my #1 for about 10 years.

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

My '94 Ibanez S-540 Ltd (handwound Sin Pickups "7th Sin" A4 set) & Jackson DK2 (w/ a Lace Deathbucker bridge & SD Hotrails in the neck) ..both MIJ ..they're the ones I go to the most :bigthumb:

I'll bet those A4's sound fantastic. I know that the Deathbucker does.

Yeah, one word to describe them: SWEET!

Really very musical sounding pups, open & kinda round with a bit of a sweet vintage-y feel to them (they're medium output..I think the bridge was something like 12-13k & the neck's 7k or so..) but enough edge to snarl & spit venom when needed. Pretty deep, tight bottom but not insanely so.. FAT crunchy mids, a bit of a VH feel to them but not limited to that. They really do sound fantastic in this guitar!

I really wish I'd got some more SIN pups ...don't think he's winding anymore :(

The Deathbucker is gold..especially in an Alder guitar.. (sounds great in my Mahog SA too! )

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

I have found that I like the A4 magnet. It's Goldilocks.
The Deathbucker sounds like a cross between an EMG 81 and an Invader.

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

I have played many guitars but not that many high end. Guitars that I have played and liked a lot but have not owned are the Gibson 335 and the PRS Custom 22 .

Of the guitars I have owned, the MIK Washburn 166PRO is my favorite. Sadly they were only in production for a few years. Beautifully made and not too heavy ,they play and sound great. The Telecaster type shape is not everybody's cup of tea but I like it a lot. It comes stock with SDs . Difficult to find on the second hand market but occasionally they turn up for around £250

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

This is difficult as my flavors of metal change from time to time... I love all my guitars.

When I'm feeling wild, speedy, shreddy, obnoxious, general divebombing crazy, ill grab this:
Number 1 player, Jackson Bastard blood warrior, its a great neck even by jackson standards, its balanced, flat, and never screws up.

But when I'm feeling raunchy, heavy handed, chording, tone-machine, grinding I'll tend to reach for this:
Number 1 player. Gibson faded V. The tone is right, the feel is natural, its comfy. Although it's nearly a toss up between this and my blue Dean V, I like the frets better on this one.

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

Best ever was a 54 to 59 conversion LP, outstanding in every way and unfortunately not affordable for me.

Otherwise I am not sure. My old Jr that broke had a crazy good neck but I guess it is my Standard Faded, it's just such a good guitar and worn in beautfully. Sometimes it falls a little out of favor (seems like it doesn't care for Winter so much) but I always come back to it, like a fave pair of jeans. Just dropped in some old Super 70's that sound great!

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

my $200 EPIPHONE LS100 Les Paul. Its skinny, solid wood, wide fast neck.

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

The Stratocaster is King. Too many of them to even try to list, but the basic concept rules, whether yours is a traditional SSS or Superstrat.

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

My 1995 MIM Strat Special
I thought it was my Ibanez Sa160, until I grabbed her... She will never be sold

My Gretsch Corvette. It's like an SG, light, thin beveled body, and after playing Strats for too many years the neck isn't "2 frets to the left" like a real Gibson feels...
that being said, I can play any of my other guitars for months, and picking the Strat one up feels like coming home.

Re: Your all-time favorite playing electric guitar?

My favourite playing guitars used to be jacksons from 90s with thin, easy to play necks until I tried a USA Hamer Mirage (2) which I bought and it's still my favourite. I actually was so comfortable with it that it killed off my gas for years.

I think the neck profile is pretty much a C shape, not especially thin or thick neck so fits in the hand quite nicely.

I realized that I like necks with a narrower nut width...Another Hamer USA - a Monaco Elite - also felt fantastic and I loved a Musicman Luke3 I tried a couple of years ago. It's a V shaped neck, but the V was very subtle.

I'd love if they'd make a guitar with a Luke I body in mahogany, a roasted maple Luke 3 neck, a rosewood fretboard and a decent set of passive pickups without the db boost.

Boat
I still always order my Warmoth necks big and chunky (Fatbacks for strats and Boatnecks for teles) and with 7.25 radiuses. But the necks of the R. Blackmore signature strat and D. Gilmour strat (tapered) are impressive and easy to play. Very comfortable, and fortuntaely for me they both sound incredible!
