+1 for her, but if you're referring to amp heads, i'd have to say my three favorite are: mesa triple rect, marshall dsl 100, peavey 6505, fender supersonic, engle thunder, among other more affordable heads
i have not found one.... my 5150 is great for some things..... my Classic 50 head is great for clean tones.... my JCM 800 is OK but could be better....
Favorite vintage Fender amp head is the Bandmaster Reverb...especially after it's been tweaked a little for more gain and a tweed Bassman tone stack. Like having a modded Pro Reverb in a head.
Favorite Marshall head is the handwired 50 watt Model 1987 from before 1973. After 1973 they still sound great but they are not handwired.
Favorite head that sounds great and can be had for $200 or so is a used Sovtek Mig 50.
hmmm...this is a toughie - I'm gonna say either a marshall JCM 800 (I don't know enough about them to know the model # of the one I played in the shop), or the mesa heartbreaker.
I've always been a big fan of the Marshall 45. Its really sweet, I also like the Dual Showman Reverb. Its very loud and very clean, but a sweet head, espicially with a 2 15" bottom. I also like the 50W Plexi's. Great sound when you need to be loud. My all time favorite, is my Komet 60. Its raw and in your face, yst subtle and beautiful. It all depends on how you attack the strings.
Marshall JTM-45. Nice and thick clean tones, a juicy distortion, and takes pedals great. Combined with something like a Plexitone pedal, could get tones from the JTM-45 itself all the way up to a JCM800 kind-of sound.
The Fender Prosonic I stupidly traded for a TSL 60 Marshall head!!
I still have a Prosonic combo but will buy another head if I can find one at the right price.
I also want badly to play throug a Zinky Superfly and MoFo.
