Your fav pick ups for an ES-335 style guitar ?

Any votes for the A2P or the '59 set ?

Those work well, too. But the Ants and Seths are the closest to what was designed in the 50s, so if authenticity is the goal, then there ya go. But I've heard of people who have put Black Winters in there and love them, authenticity be damned. Depends on what you are after.

BLACK WINTERS . . . wow !!!

If you want to go for the authentic vintage PAF experience. Just buy two random PAFs without looking and just chuck them in one of the two spots

Either Seth Lovers or Antiquities.
Would throw the Saturday night specials in the mix also. Both run together clean have a unique almost acoustic like character. They work very, very well in a semi Hollow. I just pulled the set I have had out of my Carvin AE 185 I am about to sell, and I am going to drop them into my Carvin SH 60 instead. They are fantastic in particular in a semi hollow body.

I like Seth neck, but the bridge didn't do it for me. I recently got a set of Wolfetone Mashallhead MKII and really like them. I almost bought a set of unpotted Duncan 59, but opted for the Wolfes.

According to my in-life experience i would say Seth Lovers. I had a Heritage H-535 for a while with Lover set and it was fantastic guitars.

But if i had a hollow body right now, i would probably go for Dimarzio Air Classic or Bluesbucker in the neck and PAF 36th (DP223) or Virtual HOT PAF in the bridge. In double cream hue :)

MMmmm, i am unfamilliar with these Wolfe units.
Would you be so kind as to tell me a bit more about 'em?
I've never owned a real PAF pickup but have/do own some of the more popular clones. I like Wolfetones the best. I have his hotter PAF copies (Marshallheads) in a few guitars, Legends in my R7 and had Legends in my ES-335, but they were pretty light in the lows. Marshallhead MK II is like a slightly weaker Mashallhead. He describes them as sounding similar to a Gibson Patent Number pickup. I haven't had one of those either, but like these. He also doesn't pot his pickups, but I've never had any issue with squealing. To me, they are the best I've tried and his prices are very competitive, relative to the other boutique pickups I've tried.

I've liked my Motor City Black Belts. I believe a4 and around 8.2 on the neck, 8.4 on the bridge. Only PAF style pickups I've kept in a guitar not counting various neck pickups paired with more modern ones. They do a thing.
