Either Seth Lovers or Antiquities.
BLACK WINTERS . . . wow !!!Those work well, too. But the Ants and Seths are the closest to what was designed in the 50s, so if authenticity is the goal, then there ya go. But I've heard of people who have put Black Winters in there and love them, authenticity be damned. Depends on what you are after.
Would throw the Saturday night specials in the mix also. Both run together clean have a unique almost acoustic like character. They work very, very well in a semi Hollow. I just pulled the set I have had out of my Carvin AE 185 I am about to sell, and I am going to drop them into my Carvin SH 60 instead. They are fantastic in particular in a semi hollow body.Either Seth Lovers or Antiquities.
MMmmm, i am unfamilliar with these Wolfe units.I like Seth neck, but the bridge didn't do it for me. I recently got a set of Wolfetone Mashallhead MKII and really like them. I almost bought a set of unpotted Duncan 59, but opted for the Wolfes.
I've never owned a real PAF pickup but have/do own some of the more popular clones. I like Wolfetones the best. I have his hotter PAF copies (Marshallheads) in a few guitars, Legends in my R7 and had Legends in my ES-335, but they were pretty light in the lows. Marshallhead MK II is like a slightly weaker Mashallhead. He describes them as sounding similar to a Gibson Patent Number pickup. I haven't had one of those either, but like these. He also doesn't pot his pickups, but I've never had any issue with squealing. To me, they are the best I've tried and his prices are very competitive, relative to the other boutique pickups I've tried.MMmmm, i am unfamilliar with these Wolfe units.
Would you be so kind as to tell me a bit more about 'em?
