To all of you fingerpickers in this forum, what are your favorite kind of pups and your preferred guitar scale length?

Re: Your favorite pups and preferred scale length for fingerpicking styles

Are you referring to electric or acoustic? I prefer a 25.5" scale for both. I dunno, but it seems that the additional "string tension" gives them more high end and ring which I need for the cleans ala Mark Knopfler. A middleweight swamp ash would be my first choice for wood with SD SSl-2's on three positions. I've tried the DiMarzio Blue Velvet but I thought that it was too glassy or it just lacked the bass response that I could find with the SSL-2. I haven't tried pick-ups for acoustics though, I just used a microphone in front of myself connected to an amplifier.

Referring to electric guitars mainly. Personally, I prefer to use a 25.5" scale length guitar with glassy humbuckers, single coils typically dont have enough bass typically but p-90 pickups actually work quite well.
