Anything Fender. Although some of those cheapy tube amps from the sixties that you guys are mentioning have some serious tone to them too. I have an early 60's Gibson Invader that is really cool too. But that is essentially a Fender Pro circuit from what I've been told.
Marshalls are nice for Rock and Blues/Rock, but I've never been convinced that they make an authentic Blues sound. Sorry Clapton fans. I love Eric's music and tone, but those early 60's records don't have that tone. It's a different tone and it made him famous. But it sounds more like a Rock and Roll tone to me.

Not a big Clapton fan here actually...I based my "best" choice of the JTM on actually playing it... BB/JTM can do the mellow thing or get rude....I prefer having an amp capable of both...Set it up for scream..then play with your volume controls to mellow it out...

I put in the peavey, 'cause it's something that I was able to learn on and really appreciate. The classic 20 or 30, has been a great amp, and the delta blues series is basically the same amp with a tremolo and reverb. I think it has all the versatility you need for a 'blues' amp.

Any good Fender tube amp (Blackface or Tweed preferably) at about 8 on the volume control. Tone controls season to taste.

Wow, dem Fenders have lots of fans? I'm surprised it's so lop-sided. I expected Fender to have the edge but not that much. Whew!

My Silvertone Twin Twelve can get some real good blues tones. It needs to be recapped and tubed but it's trem/vibrato will beat almost any Fender...I don't know how but it's the best I've ever heard. :wall:

Tried a blues jr using a LP classic, the sound that came out proved to me that Fender is an amp not to be overlooked upon

How bout a vote for a DR. Z Maz JR? I didn't see my favorite up there, so I'm adding Dr. Z amps.
Also, and this is an honest to God real question, am I missing some secret about Fender amps? I've never heard an old Fender that didn't sound farty and flabby in the low end, muddy on the top end, and in general sounded like ass, unless it was drowned in their "famous" reverb. I suspect that the Fender sound is most associated with blues because they were so mass-produced they became the most "common" sound and not necessarily the best. I've heard a couple of nice modded Fenders, but by no means did they leave the factory that way.
Now, don't anybody get too offended just yet, I've owned several Fenders, and they kind of have a unique sound, but could it be called "the best." I'm not sure about that. I think they're are much better amps in the price range of the reissue bassman.

I have a Peavy Delta Blues with the 15" speaker that I love. It's fantastic sounding on the clean channel with my Joe Pass on the neck pickup with tone all the way to bass. I can't wait till I get my new Less Paul home to try on it. I have a Crate V8 also and I aint impressed with the quality of Crate amps.

So many amps. Fender tweeds and blackfaces. Old Magnatones, Silvertones...conjure up some great smoky, swampy tones. Old Gibson amps never get much attention, which is a good thing for those of us who know better
They sell for pretty low prices. I have a '57 G8 Discoverer that is 9 watts of pure 6v6 joy. You'd think it was a tweed Deluxe if you couldn't see it. Sounds every bit as nice, maybe better to my ears. I paid $250.00 for one, recapped and ready to roll. The BF Pro Reverb is my favorite BF amp. I think it's the best BF Fender ever made.
My favorite for some time tho...has been my MAZ 38 Sr. 2x12. Really versatile amp, sounds like my '65 Pro Reverb, only better. I run an old Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal in front of it, and it's lights out for blues tones.
