Re: Your favourite rock amp?

Who is Jeff Seal? and can he do his magic (or other amp guru) on a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and make the HRD sound better than a new Marshall? Then you would really have the best of both worlds: Fender clean and better than Marshall crunch. Is that a reasonable speculation?

If you want the classic 80's tones either a marshall jcm800 or mesa mark 3. For modern rock the recto dominates. I think of it this way the marshall sound is typically dark, wheras the recto has that searing highend. they are both heavy in ther own rights (zack wylde tone), but while the marshall is scary, the recto is brutal in a very ear pleaing way if you have the right guitar with the right pickups!!

Re: Your favourite rock amp?

The best rock amp I've ever played is the Fargen VOS. I'm a marshall nut, but this sounds better than any marshall or boutique marshall clone I've tried, and yes I have played a germino, not all of them though. My disclaimer, I sell Fargens, but I'm posting this as a player, not salesperson.

I think the silver jubilee gets honorable mention, it's a terrific amp.
