Your most useless gear purchase

My Digitech RP-1
+1. Absolute garbage. Fun to mess around with, but few patches are actually useable and even those lack in the T-O-N-E compartment.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

Behringer feedback distroyer, the only thing it truely distroyed was my PAs tone.

I have a Digitech RP-7 that isn't all that it should be.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

Digitech RP-6. Within 6 months the switches all busted, and it only had a 90 day warranty.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

Mine is a Digitech RP7 valve also, my friend had one of the early rack-mount Digitech fx units that was ok sounding. I saw the RP7 and that it had a pre-amp tube in it so I thought it might be workable. Then I got a Dimebucker, and after playing it for a month just plugged straight into an amp I was astounded after running it through the RP7, the tone was GONE! If ever there was a wanted poster for tone theft, there'd be a picture of this little blue bandit. Now if I only could take out that little tube and wire it into my guitar cord.....

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

Most useless has to be the MXR Double Shot Distortion. Both channels were noisy, buzzy and trashy. Worst $120 I ever spent in my life.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

a crappy johnson 10W amp i bought together with my first electric guitar(the guitar is johnson too but some kind of limited edition and pretty good for the money) about 7 years ago. It sucked massive and i blew it up with some left-over fireworks.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

Mine's similar to Zerberus's.....a giant rack.
I got caught up with rack fever in the mid 90's, like many, and ended up with a 20 space Mesa shockmounted rack. All I really needed was 8 spaces for a power amp, preamp, FX unit, blank vent, and Furman power supply, but OF COURSE when you have a refrigerator-size rack, you feel compelled to start filling it with crap you don't need......that's what happened, so the rack and about 5 other pieces of rack crap I didn't need ended up breaking my back to move for about 6 months. I finally wised up and bought an SKB 8 space, then wised up even more and ditched the whole rack idea.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

dod deathmetal pedal- what a piece!

That or the drum mics I bought. But hopefully they'll get used this summer.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

Digitech RP300....BTW anyone want to buy it? It's the best sounding pedal on the market today. You can't live without one......and I'll let it go for only $10,000. What a deal!!! :newangel:

I wonder if thats the same Johnson Strat that I have in my sig. A surprisingly nice instrument for the money. I could've listed its EMG designed pups in the "praise non-Duncan . . ." thread. ;)

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

Ahhh let's see:

1) An Aria Pro II pseudo Strat copy, never used the bloody thing and sold it.

2) An ART Digital Reverb (this is in the late 80's), better suited for studio use but ABSOLUTELY USELESS for onstage, sold it to a keyboard player for his home studio.

3) DOD Super Overdrive for use in my old bass rig. Could NEVER get it to sound right.

I now avoid Digi-Tech and ART in general principle.

Digitech XP-100 - could never get it to work the way I wanted it to. I only bought it so I could copy Tom Morello back when I was in my RATM period. Eventually, it started crapping out on me so I gave up on it. I threw it away one day after practice out of sheer frustration and I can't say that I've missed it.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

My warlock is at my mum's doing nothing, but im gonna do it up one day! Also my boss pedals havent been doing much (except the TU-2) since i havent been gigging. The POD does so much.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

I bought some small plastic korg floor processor to use for home practice. I quickly found I preferred to play unplugged.

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

That would be a vintage Ibanez SM-9 Super Metal pedal from 1984 that for the life of me could not dial in a usable sound. I took the two original JRC 4558D Op-Amp IC chip out of it and replaced it with a generic JRC4558 IC and sold the damn thing!

Re: Your most useless gear purchase

I recently unloaded an old Epiphone 10 watt studio amp for 50 bucks... That thing sucked. It was like listening to a guitar thru a crappy car radio speaker...
